In 2017, when we founded MusicTech Germany, there was no other organised network or association for music technology providers anywhere else. We believed (and still believe) that it’s important for the evolution of the music ecosystem that those who build the tools for musicians – to express their creativity or generate an economic income – can connect, learn from each other, find synergies, collaborate and eventually create the best possible products and services for artists, music and its industry.
The music creation process as well as the economic value chain for music are driven by technological solutions more than ever today and the global music technology ecosystem is still broad and, in its structure, very fragmented. The difference from seven years ago is that today music tech associations, hubs, and networks exist in many more countries.
This is great but successful innovation for a sustainable music ecosystem can only happen when information is accessible, knowledge is transferred, fields intersect, and people connect. Trans-national and cross-sectoral collaborations are key to alleviate present challenges, ignite change, and further develop the music sector while keeping in mind the individual needs of everyone involved in it.
That’s why we are happy to announce that we founded Music Tech Europe.
This European umbrella association brings together national music technology associations and music industry bodies across Europe. As the largest and most representative body for the European music tech ecosystem, we aim to foster sustainable development and innovation within the music sector and enhance the economic infrastructure for organisations providing technology-driven solutions for the music industry. Our founding members include leading organisations from Germany, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Belgium, France, Spain, Finland, Norway, and the UK. Music Tech Europe symbolises a landmark collaboration to accelerate innovation and bridge the gap between the music and technology sectors.

Europe, 13 March 2024 – In an unprecedented move to unite music and technology across Europe, leading national music technology associations and music industry bodies have come together to form Music Tech Europe. This new umbrella association represents a collective effort and is a demonstration of unified commitment to accelerate innovation and sustainable growth in the music sector at a European level, making it the largest and most influential organisation in the European music tech ecosystem.
This launch signals a new era of collaborations between different organisations in the music ecosystem with Music Tech Europe’s foundation being built upon its founding members: MusicTech Germany, Music Innovation Hub, MESO Events, Nordic Music Tech, Wallifornia MusicTech, Music Tech France, Barcelona Music Tech Hub, Music Finland, Music Tech Norway and Music Technology UK.
