Stephan Baumann

Senior researcher at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence(DfKI). PhD in music and AI research with 20+ years experience.

Stephan Baumann, PhD in music and AI research, works in Berlin and Kaiserslautern at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence.

He wrote his dissertation on Artificial Listening Systems at DFKI and IRCAM / Paris. Parallel to this, in 2001 he founded sonicson GmbH, a spinoff for music recommendation machines, and in 2008 tiqqer GmbH, a company involved in memetracking and blog monitoring.

He was a guest lecturer at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg for music recommendation systems from 2009-2018.

His current research interests include KI & Creativity and Sensorstream Mining, specifically for sports and healthcare applications. He is an active musician and sound artist, passionate about modular techno and interactive sound installations.
